"An east African symbol meaning Hakuna Matata  ‘no worries’ this symbol means a lot to me as i came across the meaning as a child watching ‘The Lion King’. The Lion King is one of my favourite movies - and the phrase ‘Hakuna Matata’ i have lived with all the way through life. I’ve learnt not to harbour on the bad things and move on with a positive attitude!"

"The Jellyfish, a symbol of the spirit animal, epitomizes acceptance and faith, effortlessly flowing with the waves of life. Living in complete trust and surrender, they teach us to navigate the currents of our existence while extending our energy to others through our tentacles. Embracing the color purple, symbolic of creativity, royalty, femininity, and spirituality, we're reminded that our lives are ours to own and mold creatively, remaining steadfast amidst change, and retaining our regal essence."

Choosing the pineapple as the inspiration for this symbol stems from my special fondness for this fruit, particularly its vibrant yellow colour, which is my favourite and symbolizes vitality. Integrating with Chinese Nuo mask culture, an ancient art form used for expelling evil spirits and bringing protection and blessings, the colours of the Nuo mask adhere to the traditional Chinese aesthetic of red paired with green.
This symbol I've designed, by merging the vivid imagery of the pineapple with Chinese Nuo mask culture, not only represents my personal tastes but also showcases my cultural background, making a concerted effort to articulate my individual characteristics.

Historically, these masks were exclusively donned by men, playing a crucial role in age-old ceremonies tied to themes of fertility, rainfall, hunting, and rites of passage.

These masks showcase the time-honored textile techniques of Romanian artisans. Richly colored and intricately designed, it brings the traditional Romanian folk tales to life.

They’re important to me because they act as a reminder of my heritage and culture, it also brings me a sense of pride. It is also a sweet reminder of my grandparents who live and breathe through our folklore and follow our traditions.

The image represents characters - rose and the fox, from a novel “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The fox is adorned with a crown, representation of the Little Prince. The story follows a young prince who visits various planets, including Earth, and addresses themes of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss. He meets different people and charaters, including the fox and the rose and learns important life lessons from them. The story is important to me due to its themes, but also as its one of my favourite books from childhood years.

    Represents:

  • friendship

  • caring for others and the community as our responsibility

  • loyalty and kindness

  • child-like imagination

The puffer fish is a unique Marine creature known for its ability to swell into a ball in the face of danger and expose its full-body spines as a defense mechanism. Despite their cute appearance.

From a visual design point of view, this pattern is concise and conspicuous. The part of the mouth of the puffer fish is properly placed around the hole in the center of the kite, not only does it not look out of place, but also adds to the overall beauty and functionality.
